Because we know how hard you have trained for this event we want to help you have the
most successful race possible which is why we will be offering Pre & Post Event Sports Massage on both
Saturday & Sunday of race weekend.

Pre-event sports massage will be available at the expo on Saturday from 12.00pm to 5.00pm.

Why get Massage Therapy the day before the race? – Given within 24 hours prior to a race,
Sports Massage helps improve performance by enhancing circulation and reducing excess muscle and mental
tension prior to competition. It is normally shorter (10-15 minutes) than a regular conditioning massage, and focuses
on warming-up the major muscles to be used, and getting the athlete in a good mental state for competition. It also
improves tissue pliability, readying the athlete for top performance. Certain massage techniques can help calm a nervous
athlete, and others can be stimulating.

Post event Massage will be available after you cross the line on race day.

Post-event sports massage is given after a competition and is mainly concerned with recovery. It is geared toward reducing the muscle spasms and metabolic build-up that occur with vigorous exercise. Recovery after competition involves not only tissue normalization and repair, but also general relaxation and mental calming. A recovery session will be 15 to 20 mins long. Statistics show that athletes who receive Post event Sports Massage recover from their event quicker than those who do not as there is less DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) the next day.

To book your sessions ahead of time please email our Massage Therapist “Mary White” who will be on hand for us all weekend. Mary, originally from Ireland is a seasoned therapist of 15 years with first hand sports massage experience having worked with the Elite athletes at the Boston Marathon for 10 years. Mary is a Nationally certified Massage Therapist with professional affiliation to the American Massage Therapy Association.
